Chief Justice makes appointments to Commission on Judicial Performance November 5, 2018 Chief Justice Bill Waller Jr. has appointed Col. Silvanus Johnson of Brandon as a lay member of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance. Chief Justice Waller also appointed Jeffery M. Adcock of Jackson as an alternate lay member of the Commission.  Adcock previously served for more than six years as a lay member of the Commission, having first been appointed March 1, 2012. Johnson has served as an alternate member since Aug. 22, 2014. Adcock, the alternate member, will sit on a judicial discipline panel if Johnson has a conflict in hearing a case. The new terms begin Jan. 1, 2019, and extend through Dec. 31, 2024. The appointments order was filed Oct. 3. Col. Johnson, a retired medical services officer, was the first African American enlisted soldier to enter the Mississippi Army National Guard. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Military Museum at Camp Shelby. He was a special education and biology learning strategy teacher at Mendenhall High School and senior assistant professor of the Jackson State University Military Science Department. He is a graduate of JSU. Adcock retired in 2009 as director of administration for the State Auditor’s Office after having served under four state auditors. He earned a Masters of Business Administration from Mississippi State University. The Commission on Judicial Performance investigates allegations of judicial misconduct and makes recommendations for discipline to the Supreme Court. The Commission includes seven members and seven alternates. #### |
